AIDS Awareness License Plate

Now available – Georgia’s first and only specialty license plate promoting HIV and AIDS awareness!  For each license plate ordered, AIDS Survival Project will receive $10!  Here is what you need to know about ordering a plate:

  1. You must order AIDS Survival Project’s AIDS Awareness special license plate at your county Dept. of Motor Vehicle (DMV) tag office
  2. You may order the plate at any time – it does not have to be in conjunction with your tag renewal date – the sooner the better!
  3. You must designate that you are ordering the “AIDS Survival Project” special license plate
  4. It may be helpful to take a print out of the ASP Special License Plate page from the DMV website
  5. You will pay $25 to order the plate
  6. You will receive a receipt showing your $25 payment and that it’s for the ASP plateA Rendering of What the License Plate Might Look LIke
  7. The DMV will only manufacture the plate once they have received 1,000 orders
  8. Once the DMV receives 1,000 orders, you will be notified by mail that the plate is being manufactured
  9. ASP will receive $10 per plate ($1 goes to the County Tag Agent, $2 to the Dept. of Revenue, $12 to the State Treasury) = $25
  10. Once the 1,000 orders are received, ASP will receive $10,000
  11. The DMV must receive the 1,000 orders by 12/31/08 or the plate will not be manufactured
  12. All money collected by the DMV until the 1,000 orders are received is held in escrow by the DMV.  If 1,000 orders are not received by the due date of 12/31/08, the DMV will refund your $25 payment – but that’s not going to happen!
  13. The license plate image is not yet available on the DMV website and we do not know when it will be.  However, we do know that it will be a variation of the graphic shown here.
